LAYERS:
BOOK SERIES
Screenprinting is often forgotten about in the new digital age of art and is an overlooked resource for designers. By using this technique, artists can learn the relationship between color and form and exercise the use of transparency to create depth within layering. Keeping these ideas in mind, I chose three screenprint artists to use in a series of biographical book covers. The title of the series is "Layers" to represent the necessary use of layers in screenprinting but also in digital design.
INSPIRATION
& PROCESS
Since this book series focuses on artists in the field of screen printing, the featured colors are bold and simple and the type is offset, all elements seen in print work. The top covers are removable and the bottom edge is ripped to reference the use of ripped paper in print making. The labels on the mystery packages are also ripped to allude to this iconic element from silk screening.

Each book would come with a package of "mystery" prints of the artists. All of the packaging for the mystery print sleeves are created using screenprint designs I created in collaboration from a printing class.
